About Hack My Future
Hack My Future is an education focused non-profit organization based in Dallas, TX. We are committed to the belief that all children, no matter race, gender, or socio-economic status, deserve access to a quality, 21st century, STEM education that will prepare them for a future where technology is embedded in everything they do.
Diversity is built into our DNA and is reflected in everything we do. Our programs are geared for youth ages 8-22 and are held at locations throughout the DFW area. We aim to reach the widest audience possible with every program and encourage participation from historically underrepresented segments of our population.
From intro classes to internships, we want to address every segment of the tech pipeline making sure that everyone has equal access and a fair shot at creating the future of their dreams.
Hack My Future is the brainchild of our Founder and CEO, Shawn Scott. A coder since the age of 7, Shawn recognized the need to expose more youth to the field of technology while working for a variety of companies in the industry. Since 2014, Shawn has worked with hundreds of students across the United States through events like hackathons, instructional classes, afterschool programs, and enrichment camps.
A Dallas native, Shawn has traveled extensively across the country, providing communities with strategies that include best practices on engaging, supporting, and nurturing the next generation of talent in technology. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Telecommunication Management from Devry University and is a proud veteran of the US Army.
Prior to focusing on Hack My Future full time, Shawn served as Chief Technology Officer at VenueCenter. He has run a variety of startup companies in his career, and also worked for companies such as Apple, Texas Instruments, and Affiliated Computer Services.
Shawn currently serves on the advisory boards for three collegiate academic schools in the Dallas Independent School District namely, Pinkston, Conrad and Carter. He most recently served on the Board of Directors for the West Dallas Chamber of Commerce. Shawn’s stellar service and commitment to the community afforded him recognition by the Dallas Business Journal as an inductee into the 2016 Class of 40 under 40. Shawn also received the Golden Trailblazer Award in 2016; an Alpha Honors awarded by the Rho Nu Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
